Phoebe is a kooky, new age hippy who let a strange childhood - her mother committed suicide and she lived on the streets. Phoebe moved out of Monica's apartment because she couldn't handle her compulsive neatness and went to live with her grandmother. She currently works as a masseuse and sings in the coffee house. She met the brother she didn't know she had when she went to find her father and then met her birth mother. She finally met her father at their grandmother's funeral. Phoebe has an identical twin sister called Ursula but they do not get on. Her brother, Frank, got married to Alice, a home ec teacher, and Phoebe became the surrogate mother to their triplets.
